This site presents a selection of Heidi Sand´s work – consisting mostly of jewelry and objects.

Artistic and visual expressions are conveyed through the use of ornament and construction of patterns. A sense of lightness and delicacy is created by perforating the metal. This is a time-consuming procedure that allows compositions to arise between the material and the space in between. Natural shapes and patterns are merged together with simple geometrical forms, creating rhythm and contrast. This interaction creates optical effects that are captured through light and shade.

Sand’s work is exhibited both in Norway and abroad. Permanent collections include: The Norwegian Council of Culture, The Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Museum of Applied Art in Oslo, Vestlandske Museum of Applied Art in Bergen and Nordenfjeldske Museum of Applied Art in Trondheim.

In addition, Sand has coordinated several international exhibitions of Norwegian jewelry, was formerly the director of RAM gallery, and is now engaged as head of the Metal and Jewelry Department at Oslo National Academy of the Arts.
