Artist statement
A recurrent feature throughout my works is my interest in ornamental statements, where the issue lies in the interplay between patterns, surfaces and spaces. Starting point principles inherent in natural structures by recording, transforming and simplifying elements. Both in objects and in jewelry I strive for lightness in the expression, bringing in memories and experiences that may arouse similar thoughts in others.
The works are executed in precious metals, and are developed with the time-consuming process of sawing out patterns by hand or of drilling small holes that give an illusion of lines. I actually experience the working process as meditative, and wish this aspect to be communicated in the visual expression. My hands-on experience together with a broader computer knowledge now allows me more freely to use mechanical techniques, such as laser and water jet cutters.
